Free Webinar: Introduction to SciMAT for Thematic Mapping

August 7, 2025: 7-8am, Washington, DC.

  • Philippines: 7-8pm
  • Romania/Kenya: 2-3pm

    Webinar Description

While qualitative research is grounded on rich and contextual understanding of human experience, there is a growing interest in blending it with tools that offer a broader, thematic view of how ideas and discourses evolve over time. SciMAT (Science Mapping Analysis Tool) offers a unique opportunity for qualitative researchers to explore the development, interconnection, and evolution of research themes using bibliometric data. This session introduces SciMAT as a visual and data-driven complement to traditional qualitative approaches such as thematic analysis, grounded theory, or discourse analysis. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of how to use SciMAT to analyze large sets of literature, uncover patterns, and visually present the trajectory of research topics — skills especially valuable in literature reviews, research design, and trend analysis.
