Patricia López-Estrada is a Costa Rican full professor, extension specialist, and established researcher at the School of Languages and Social Sciences at Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica. She specializes in curriculum development, second-language education, and qualitative research. She holds a Doctorate in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, with a specialization in qualitative research, from the University of Florida, along with graduate and undergraduate degrees in English language teaching and applied linguistics. Since 1996, Patricia has shared her work at national and international conferences and has built a dynamic career as an academic, researcher, scientific writer, and educational leader. She has coordinated conferences, professional development programs, academic committees, and initiatives that promote innovative English language education. Her research and outreach explore English education in rural communities, women’s empowerment, and education during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is also a published poet, with three books: yo, Ballena, The Dark of Voices, and Otros que fui. Passionate about academic leadership and advocacy, Patricia believes that “the best we can be, we must be.” Today, she lives in GenSan, Mindanao, where she enjoys exploring Filipino food—especially tortangs and kinilaw—and the loving, loyal company of her dog, Paca!
